It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Willa L. Rains, born on April 7, 1937, in Harlan, KY, who left this world peacefully on November 4, 2025. Willa was a beloved member of her community and a devoted family member, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. Willa is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Viva (Pruitt) Browning, husband, John Rains, daughter, Johnna Stolze, her dog Bugs and sister, Norma.
Willa dedicated her professional life to serving in the clerical field for the Hamilton County Auditor's office, where her commitment and work ethic were greatly valued. Her legacy of service extended beyond her career as she was an active member of the Rainsboro United Methodist Church, and she took pride in her involvement with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Eastern Star. Willa's faith and community engagement were sources of strength and inspiration for those around her.
Willa is survived by her loving granddaughters, Jennifer (Matt) Stolze-Clark and Kristy Stolze-Hauer,4.1 great grandchildren, Wilhelmina Hauer, Josephina Hauer, Augustina Hauer, Gewdolyn Clark and Ariel Clark and sister, Lana Hammond. They, along with numerous friends and community members, will remember her spirit, compassion, and unwavering support.
On behalf of Willa's wishes, she is to be cremated.
