Wilbur N Davis

Oct 3, 1930 — Jun 21, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Wilbur N. (Wib) Davis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Wib departed this world peacefully on June 21, 2026, at the age of 95.

His journey began on October 3, 1930 in the small town of Lausche, Ohio where he was born to McClellan and Edna (Turner) Davis. Wib shared 71 years of this journey with his wife Ruth (Martin) Davis, whom he married on August 13, 1955. He and Ruth spent all of their married life in Hillsboro before moving to Washington Court House in 2021.

Wib is survived by his wife Ruth; daughter Debra (Michael) Fenner; daughter-in-law Rhonda (Rawlins) Davis; grandchildren Greg (Whitney) Davis, Kristin (Bobby) Finnerty, Nick Davis, Jaimee (Jordan) Cutting, Cory (Ashley) Fenner, and Kyle (Alyssa) Fenner; great grandchildren Gideon Davis, Landon and Lillian Fenner, Koa Fenner, Roman Williams, Jasper Cutting, Madison Finnerty, and Sage (McKenzie Kelly) Finnerty; great great grandsons Baylor and Stetson Finnerty; brother Dale Davis and sister Karen Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Michael N. Davis; siblings William (Betty) Davis, Danny (Sharon) Davis, Shirley (John) Gieseking, Irene Stroop, Sandra Davis, Wayne Davis, and sister-in-law Barbara Davis.

When he was younger, Wib worked as a farmer before becoming owner and operator of West Main Sunoco in Hillsboro. After retiring from the station, he volunteered as a special deputy at the Highland County Sheriff's Office before becoming a full time Deputy. His interest in cars also led him to become part owner of Hillsboro Ford.

Wib loved his country and proudly displayed his patriotism. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict in the early 1950's where he served as an airplane mechanic.

Wib was a member of Union Church of Christ in Hillsboro and attended South Side Church of Christ in Washington Court House. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hillsboro.

Family was his greatest joy. Wib loved trips with family and attending the grandkid's sporting events. Family get-togethers were very special to him.

Wilbur loved gardening, playing cards with friends, and tinkering with anything that had a motor. His family often referred to him as Mr.Fix-It and often turned to him for help!

Wib's legacy is one of faith, resilience, and hard work. Services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home on Monday June 29, 2026. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM with the funeral at 1:00. Burial will follow at New Market Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
