Virginia R. "Jenny" Vesey, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 84.
Virginia was a member of the Marshall Church of Christ, where her generous spirit and unwavering faith enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Born on October 21, 1941, in Clinton County, OH., the daughter of the late William O. and Ulai Mae (Thompson) Spence. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Betty Jo Vesey; sisters, Davene Reed, Rebecca Gilbert and Alice Porter.
As "Mamaw" to her grandchildren, she nurtured them with love, wisdom, and laughter. Virginia radiated warmth through her incredible cooking; her homemade potato soup and delectable pineapple upside-down cake were beloved family favorites that will be dearly missed at family gatherings.
Professionally, Virginia dedicated many years to serving her community as a billing specialist at Highland District Hospital, where her commitment to excellence and compassion made a lasting impact on her colleagues and patients alike.
Virginia was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, finding joy in cheering for her team. She had a deep love for the beach, animals, and the beauty of nature, particularly flowers and birds. Singing was a beloved pastime and she had a love for country music.
Virginia is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Vesey; her sons, Mike (Sue) Reed, Bill Reed, and Jason (Ali) Vesey; grandchildren, Tonya (Kenric) Sturgill, Jamie (Rachel) Reed, Laura Moore, Heather Tolle, Isabella Vesey, Julianne Vesey, Hazel Vesey and many great grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia Rhoads and Margaret Malicote; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Her love and legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her.
Family and friends are invited to a public viewing starting at 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM., Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
A graveside service to celebrate Virginia's extraordinary life will be held at Westwood Cemetery July 1, 2026, at 2:45 PM, with Tom Stoops officiating.
