Vergie Lavonda Kerns

Vergie Lavonda Kerns, 89 years of Peebles, died Tuesday, January 1, 2002 at the
Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.
She was born in Adams County on October 23, 1912 the daughter of Elmer and Bessie
Freeze Chenoweth.
Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Elzie Kerns, one son Joe
Kerns, one sister, Ruth Chenoweth and one brother Elmer ?Buck? Chenoweth.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Sampson and Marcella Kerns of Walterboro, SC, Charley and Ruth Kerns of Peebles, John and Judy Kerns of Peebles, Mack and Doris Kerns of Lucasville, Lee Roy and Rita Kerns of Latham, one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and James Hilterbrand of Columbus, one sister Lucille Williamson of Sinking Spring, seventeen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Wylie-
Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring with Donald Lewis officiating. Burial will
follow in the Straight Creek Cemetery in Brush Creek Township.
Friends may call on Friday evening from 4:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the family of Vergie Lavonda Kerns, in care of Mack Kerns, 11235 St. Rte. 348, Lucasville, Ohio 45648.
