Susan Raye Barber, age 54, passed away unexpectedly at her home on July 22, 2026.
Born on February 20, 1972, Susan was the daughter of Melvin and Carolyn Davis, who preceded her in death. She was also reunited with the love of her life, her husband, David Barber, whose memory she has carried with her since his passing.
Susan leaves behind a family who was the center of her world: her daughter, Melissa (Ethan) Strobel; her son, Steven (Lizz) Barber; and her four cherished grandchildren, Luca Barber, Kendall Strobel, Vivian Strobel, and Aria Strobel. She is also survived by her siblings, Sherry (Glenn) Unger, Ann (Jerry) Edwards, Daniel (Joyce) Lightner, and Mark (Neves) Davis, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
Susan was a woman of quiet strength. She was never one to seek the spotlight or be the loudest voice in the room. Instead, she listened, observed, and offered wisdom through her steady presence and unwavering love. Her faith has been a foundation of her life, providing her with strength, comfort, and guidance through ever season.
Nothing brought Susan greater joy than spending time with her children and grandchildren. Whether sharing simple moments together or making memories that will now be treasured memories, her family was her greatest blessing. She also found peace in being outdoors, especially during mushroom season, a tradition that she has instilled in her children and now grandchildren.
Those who knew Susan will remember her, not for grand gestures, but for the quiet, steadfast way she loved. She was fiercely devoted to her family, faithful in her beliefs, and selfless in her care for those around her. Her dedication to the people she loved will remain her greatest legacy and will continue to live on to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, Susan's love, faith, and gentle strength will live on in the hearts of her family and all who called her a friend.
