Steven C. Patton

Steven C. "Steve" Patton, age 66 years of the Marshall Community, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a farm accident Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Steve was born December 19, 1959, in Wilmington, OH., the son of the late Frank R. "Bud" and Eileen M. (Shaffer) Patton.

He was a member of Good News Gathering where he served in many capacities, including many missionary trips to Haiti. He was very community minded, serving on the Highland County Fair Board and Highland County Cattlemen's Association.

On April 4, 1981, he was united in marriage to Lynne (Stephens) Patton, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Autumn (Joseph Young) Patton of Ewing, KY. and Kayleesue (Riley) Laber of Marshall; five grandchildren, Samantha Pecco, Craig Pecco, D'Lelah Laber, Patton Laber and Denver Laber; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Ellen Patton, Jeffrey and Shelley Patton: three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol and Bruce Seger, Donna and Lonnie Kosch, Diane and Dennis O'Cull; several nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and a host of friends.

He was a 1978 graduate of Hillsboro High School and attended Southern State Community College. After graduation Steve had an opportunity to go to work for Rotary Forms in Hillsboro. Steve growing up on the farm his whole childhood was encourage by his dad, Bud to go try working off the farm. Steve excelled at his new job and held many positions while working at Rotary Forms. He had an opportunity to go to work for Phil Wilson at Highland Computer Forms, where he excelled there as well. Steve would eventually become co-owner. He worked every day with humility, there wasn't any job he was not willing to do, and he made sure his employes knew how important and valued they were.

Even though Steve's profession was computer forms, his love for the farm never left him. He continued the legacy of his father's cattle business; Patton Seldom Rest Farm where he was a dedicated Limousin breeder. He instilled a love for cattle in his children and grandchildren, but more than teaching them the love of cattle, he taught them to love and respect the people in the cattle industry first.

Steve was a Big Game Hunter. He traveled throughout the United States and many different Countries on Safari Trips where he has accumulated many trophies.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., at the Good News Gathering, 6250 U.S. 62, Hillsboro, OH. 45133

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, at 7:00 P.M. at Good News Gathering.

Burial will be held Saturday at the convenience of the family at Marshall Cemetery.
