Sharon Kay Abbott

Sharon Kay Abbott, 82, of Hillsboro, Ohio, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio.

Born on February 11, 1944, in Springfield, Ohio, Sharon was the beloved daughter of the late Truby Estel Abbott and Zetta Hazel Brown Abbott. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Audrey Abbott Craft; her brother-in-law, Clayton Craft; her nephew, Jeffrey Craft; her great niece, Alicia Craft and other beloved family members who welcomed her home to Heaven.

Sharon graduated from Evansville High School in Evansville, Indiana, before beginning a remarkable career at Rotary Forms Press, where she faithfully worked for more than 60 years. Her dedication, strong work ethic, and unwavering loyalty earned the admiration and respect of her coworkers and friends.

Above all else, Sharon loved Jesus Christ. Her relationship with her Savior was the defining characteristic of her life. Her faith was not something reserved for Sundays-it shaped her conversations, decisions, prayers, and acts of kindness. She lived with eternity in view and desired above all else that others would know the hope, peace, and salvation found in Christ.

From an early age, Sharon used her God-given musical talents to glorify the Lord. Throughout her life, she faithfully played the piano and organ and sang in church. As a young woman, she ministered alongside her father, Truby Abbott, as he preached and painted during evangelistic meetings. She later shared her musical gifts with gospel groups and congregations and faithfully served at Chapel of Hope Church in Greenfield for many years. Whether playing music, singing, assisting with church responsibilities, or quietly serving behind the scenes, Sharon simply wanted Christ to be honored.

Although Sharon never had children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She became a second mother, trusted friend, faithful prayer warrior, and one of their greatest encouragers and cheerleaders. She remembered birthdays, celebrated accomplishments, prayed through hardships, and attended as many games, dances, recitals, graduations, church events, and life's special moments as she could. Her generous and loving nature was most clearly seen in the way she continually showed up for those she loved.

Sharon also possessed a joyful and fun-loving spirit. Her family will forever treasure memories of playing Pick-Up Sticks, reading bedtime stories, finding Toaster Strudels waiting in her freezer, listening to music on road trips, and spending long days Christmas shopping until every store had closed. She could laugh until tears rolled down her face and had a way of bringing everyone around her into the joy of the moment. Her contagious laugh, warm hugs, beautiful smile, and joyful presence will be deeply missed.

To know Sharon was to be prayed for, encouraged, and loved. She was a woman of wisdom, steadfast faith, quiet strength, and remarkable generosity. She listened carefully, gave selflessly, and often knew exactly what someone needed to hear. She never sought recognition for herself, yet she became one of the brightest lights in the lives of those privileged to know her.

Her greatest accomplishment was not found in the songs she sang, the years she worked, or the countless ways she served. It was found in the lives she quietly changed by faithfully reflecting the love of Jesus Christ.

Among Sharon's belongings, her family found a journal entry that beautifully expressed the hope by which she lived:

"If we all are ready to go to Heaven when our time on earth is ended, we can spend eternity together. That is my prayer and hope."

Those words perfectly summarize Sharon's life and the message she would want to leave with everyone she loved: Make Heaven your home by placing your faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

Sharon is survived by her aunts and uncle, Fred Brown and Bonnie Adkins Brown, and Naomi Brown Abbott; her brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Loree Abbott; her nieces and nephews, Greg and Tomi Craft, Terry Craft, Crystal Craft, wife of the late Jeffrey Craft, Greg and Megan Abbott, Chad and Bree Abbott, and Cody and Brittany Abbott Bland; her great-nieces and nephews, Stephen and Keely Craft Woloschek, Quin Gibson, Greyson, Pierce, Marlee, Finley, Jaylon, Calloway, Elliah, and Posie. Her great great-nieces and great great-nephews, Liam, Hayes, Brixton, Audrey, and Kyrin; along with extended family, her cherished church family, and many dear friends whose lives were forever changed by her faith, encouragement, generosity, and Christ-like love.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Chapel of Hope Church, 12986 State Route 41, Greenfield, Ohio, with Pastor Gary Brown and Pastor Tom Brown officiating. Family and friends may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, at the church. A private family graveside service will follow at Beech Fork Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sharon's memory to Chapel of Hope Church, 12986 State Route 41, Greenfield, Ohio 45123, so that the ministry she faithfully loved and served may continue sharing the hope of Jesus Christ for generations to come.

While Sharon's family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the promise she believed with all her heart-that because of Jesus Christ, this is not goodbye, but "until we meet again." Heaven is sweeter today because Sharon is home.
