July 19, 1934 - December 13, 2025
Ronald A. Thompson, 91 years old of Grove City, OH., a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025.
Born in Worthington, Ohio, to the late Earl and Ruth (Ryan) Thompson. Beside his parents, Ron was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob, Jim and Bill Thompson; three sisters, Marjorie VonDoch, Martha Dunnagan and Catherine Walker.
Ron spent his formative years in a small-town setting, eventually graduating from Sinking Spring High School in 1952. From there, he began a long and fulfilling career with Robertshaw Controls, spending 34 years as a dedicated factory supervisor in both Hillsboro and Grove City.
Ron's life was greatly enriched by his love for sports and the friendships he forged. As a passionate and enthusiastic pitcher, he took to the softball field with a fervor that often resulted in unpredictable game outcomes. What he lacked in precision, he more than made up for in spirit, creating lasting bonds with his teammates. Beyond softball, Ron enjoyed the idyllic pastimes of golfing and trading automobiles, reveling in the thrill of a good deal. He carried this passion into several years spent selling vehicles at McFarland Ford in Peebles and later at Kyle Chevrolet in Mt Sterling, where he built cherished friendships with both colleagues and customers alike.
Ron leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Thompson; his sons, Steve (Susan) Thompson and Kevin Thompson; his daughters, Tammy (Mark) Bowen, Tara Thompson, Cara Thompson and Lisa (Todd) Wilkinson; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Services celebrating Ronald's life will be held on December 19, 2025. A public viewing will take place at the Spence Miller Funeral Home in Grove City, OH., starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. He will then be laid to rest in a graveside service at Grove City Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather to share in remembrance and reflection as they honor the life of a man who touched so many lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local charity of your choice in Ron's memory. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
