Robert "Bob" Andrew, Jr

Robert William Andrew, Jr. was born to Robert William Andrew, Sr. and Lillian Alice Keys Andrew in Hillsboro, Ohio on July 12, 1936.

He graduated from Milford, OH High School in 1954. He attended Kenyon College in Gambier, OH and graduated from The Ohio State University with both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison in pursuit of his PhD in chemistry.

He and Nedra Eileen Meredith were married in Columbus, OH on June 9, 1957. Their daughters, Marilyn was born in 1961 and Carolyn in 1963.

Robert's long career starting 1962 was with the Environmental Protection Agency in both Cincinnati, OH and Duluth, MN. He was a part of the new team that opened the National Water Quality Laboratory in Duluth, MN in 1967. He also worked at the EPA lab in Monticello, MN before retiring.

Robert had many interests and hobbies outside of his work, which included vegetable and flower gardening, antique tractors, photography, genealogy, archeology, Native American history & artifacts, antique books, antique glassware and Civil War history.

He was a lifetime member of the Highland County OH Historical Society as well as a member of the "First Families" of both Highland County and the state of OH. He belonged to the American Society for the Advancement of Science, Sigma Xi and the Southern Ohio Genealogy Society.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Samual Nathan and his wife, Jo, sister, Nancy Lee Andrew Brunner, her husband, Charles Brunner, his daughter Carolyn and his grandson, Michael Henderson of Milwaukee.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years-Nedra, his daughter, Marilyn Henderson, granddaughter, Karen Henderson Coyne, nephews, Steve, David and James Andrew, nieces, Karen Andrew McKittrick and Pamela Andrew Hizer and his first cousins, Cindi Cordell and Anne Plymesser.

Special thanks go out to Dr. Shannon Hancock in Morristown, TN, All Care Home Health Care and Amedisys Hospice Care. Robert was surrounded by some incredible home health care workers from All Care the last 2 years of his life. They became like family and were very special people in his life. Melissa, Sandy, Stacy and Katie-you know who you are!

Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM on Saturday August 8, 2026, at the Marshall Cemetery.
