Raymond L. "Ray" Ross, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, at the age of 84, in Wilmington, Ohio.
Born on April 2, 1942, the son of the late Raymond E. and Dessie M. (Purdy) Ross. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerri Ross, step-son, Danny Joe Madden, granddaughter, Christina Ross, two step grandchildren, brother, Bobby Ross, nephew, Larry Levi Ross and niece, Crystal Ross.
Ray led a life filled with love, laughter, and music, leaving a profound impact on all who knew him.
Ray dedicated his life to his family, creating cherished memories with his wife, Mae (Fyffe) Ross; three children, Sandy (Mike) Hynes, Vicki (Larry) Schrul, and Randy (Bonnie) Ross; four step-children, Carolann (Brendan) Novisky, Jack (Colleen) Madden, Gerald (Margaret) Madden, William (Vickie) Madden; five grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, several great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; his brothers Ronnie (Brenda) Ross, Larry (Sue) Ross, Michael (Debbie) Ross and Roger (Glenda) Ross, his sister Patty (Jerry) Kessler; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
A devoted Christian, Ray found joy and purpose in his faith and was an active member of Trinity Full Gospel Church in Sabina, Ohio. There, he not only participated in church activities but his love for music shone through as he enjoyed singing with fellow congregation members. His musical talent was a gift he shared warmly with his family during gatherings filled with laughter, joy, and melodies that resonated in their hearts.
Ray worked throughout his life in various capacities. He was a skilled truck driver, proudly serving as an owner-operator for several trucking companies. He began his career as a farmer and later became a roofer for Valley Sheet and Metal in Middletown, where he was a member of the local Roofers Union.
In his leisure time, Ray found peace and happiness in fishing, particularly at the Outer Banks. He delighted in frying fish for family and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home In Hillsboro.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home. Pastor Carey Helterbrand will officiate with graveside service following at Coss Cemetery at Belfast.
