It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Carmean, age 77, who departed this life on May 3, 2025. A cherished father, brother, grandfather and friend, Norman lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and an unwavering love for his family and the land he called home. Norman is preceded in death by his parents, Perle and Donna Carmean, wife, Roberta Carmean on March 17, 2023, brothers, John Carmean and Perle Carmean, Jr. and sister, Mary Jo Trefz.
Born into a farming family, Norman cultivated not only crops but also a passion for life on the farm that would sustain him throughout his years. He was a lifelong farmer, deeply connected to the earth and its rhythms, and he took great pride in the work he did. Norman also enjoyed a successful career at Hobart, where his contributions were felt by many, reflecting his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Norman honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that he approached with bravery and a sense of duty. His service instilled in him a deep appreciation for the freedoms we often take for granted, and he shared stories of camaraderie and perseverance that inspired all who met him.
Those who knew Norman will remember him not only for his industrious spirit but also for his love of tractor engines-an obsession that brought him joy and an avenue to connect with others who shared his enthusiasm. He could often be found tinkering away, hands covered in grease, lost in the melodies of the machines he adored.
Norman is survived by his loving sons, Dary and Travis (Miriam) Carmean, who carry forward his legacy, his brothers David, Carmean, Lester Carmean, Russell (Sue) Carmean, and Tony Carmean, sister, Anna Kimberly, each of whom shared a bond that only siblings can understand, two grandchildren, Olivia and Norah Carmean, brother-in-law, Leon Trefz, sister-in-law, Barbara Carmean and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Together, they formed a tight-knit family that supported each other through life's challenges and celebrated its joys.
Graveside Services will be 12:00 PM Saturday May 10, 2025 at the Resthaven Memory Gardens.
