Lee Koogler, a dedicated attorney and cherished member of his community, passed away on August 13, 2025, at the age of 51. He was born on March 15, 1974, in Dayton, Ohio, and spent his life making a profound impact on the lives of those around him. Lee is preceded by his mother, Merryle (Shaw) Lucas-Hixon, stepfather, Dr. Lucas and grandparents, Wanda Robinson, Richard Shaw, Hazel and Leonard Koogler.
Lee was proud to call Hillsboro his home, where he passionately practiced law as a self-employed attorney. His commitment to justice and advocacy was matched only by his deep love for his family and community. Lee was not only a legal professional but also a spirited leader, serving as the President of the City Council and a past President of the Rotary Club. He was an active member of the Highland County Bar Association and the Elks, where he built lasting friendships and gave back to the community he loved.
An avid sports enthusiast, Lee enjoyed playing pickleball, golf, and tennis, often gathering with friends and family for friendly competitions and camaraderie. His enthusiasm for life was infectious.
Lee is survived by his father, Len (Beverly) Koogler, his beloved children, Abigail Koogler, Hannah Koogler and Michael Koogler, siblings, Laura (Eddie) Turner, Greg (Janet) Lucas, half-sister, Corina Koogler, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. His legacy of kindness, passion, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM on Thursday August 21, 2025, at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of services on Thursday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
