Larry R. Parker, age 77, a life long resident of the Elmville Community, passed away on June 9, 2026.
Born on February 28, 1949, in Elmville, Ohio, the son of the late Russell and Naomi (McBee) Parker. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Parker. Larry dedicated his life to serving his community.
In 1965, Larry started digging graves, following in his father's footsteps. He dug graves all over Southern Ohio for many years. In the past several years, Larry limited his grave digging to only the cemeteries in Brush Creek Township.
A proud graduate of Sinking Spring High School, Larry began his career within the Ohio Valley School System, where he drove a school bus for nine years. His commitment to public service extended far beyond the classroom; he honorably served six terms as a trustee for Brush Creek Township, guiding the community with integrity and vision.
Larry's devotion to healthcare in the community was exemplified by his 22 years on the Highland District Hospital Board of Governors, where he continually sought to enhance medical services for the residents of the area. He was an active member of the Professional Corporation and Foundation, and his contributions were instrumental in ensuring quality healthcare. In addition to these roles, Larry served as a Member and Treasurer for the Brush Creek Township Fire Department and participated on the Board of Directors for the Brush Creek Township Community Center, profoundly impacting local safety and community spirit.
Larry is survived by his brother, Tom (Mona) Parker and several cousins. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the community he fiercely supported.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on June 16, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Elmville Church of Christ in Christian Union where Larry attended.
The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Brad Huffman officiating. A graveside service will take place at Dunkard Ridge Cemetery, where Larry will be laid to rest, surrounded by the beauty of nature he cherished.
In honor of Larry, donations may be made to the Brush Creek Fire Deparment, Brush Creek Township Community Center or the Elmville Church of Christ in Christian Union.
