It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janie Rhoads, a beloved wife, daughter, mother and friend, who left us on April 12, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on June 28, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, Janie brought joy and warmth to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She spent her final years in Hillsboro, Ohio, where she filled her days with laughter, love, and cherished moments. She is preceded by her father, Ronald Schatz, brother, John Schatz and step-father, Eddie Pendergraft.
Janie was a dedicated member of the retail community, known for her infectious smile and remarkable ability to connect with customers. She took great pride in her work and built lasting relationships with her colleagues throughout her career. Beyond her professional life, Janie found true happiness in the simple pleasures. She loved spending time with her beloved dog, Rocky Rhoad, often found enjoying the fresh air on her front porch. Her passions included roller skating, dancing, and listening to live music, where she frequently lit up the room with her vibrant energy and joyful spirit.
Janie is survived by her devoted husband, Donnie Rhoads, her loving mother, Betty Pendergraft, daughters, Ashley Harper and Kayla Jo (Dew) Townsend, step-son, David (Amanda) Mossbarger, two grandchildren, Patrick and Emily Harper and one baby boy on the way, daughter-in-law and her children, September (Larry) Six, Cohen and Liric Six and a host of friends. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday April 20, 2026 at the Thompson Funeral Home.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM until time of services on Monday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
Janie Rhoads leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
