Hugh Wayne Shaw

Hugh Wayne Shaw, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on May 8, 1937, in Marshall, Ohio, Hugh dedicated his life to his family and community, leaving a legacy of love and service that will be deeply missed. He is preceded by his parents, Ervin and Oral (Siders) Shaw; son, Stacy Shaw; brothers, Richard and Dale Shaw and sister, Juanita Smart.

Hugh's work ethic and commitment to his job were matched only by his devotion to his family. He is survived by his wife, Doris (Gilpin) Shaw, children, Becky Adams, Mary Miller, Christina Hughes, Robert (Linda) Ball, Terry Ball, James Ball, Jerry Ball; step-daughter, Teresa Piatt, 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brother, Bill (Donna) Shaw, sister-in-law, Wanda Shaw and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A member of the May Hill Church of Christ, Hugh's faith played a significant role in his life. He was known in his community for his kind heart and willingness to lend a helping hand, exemplified by his dedication to mowing Prospect Cemetery for an impressive 30 years, cut meat at Collins Packing in Greenfield and retired from Ohio Packing in Columbus. It was a labor of love that reflected his deep respect for those who came before him. He also shared a passion for mushroom hunting, John Deere Tractors, but his favorite was spending time with his grandchildren.

Hugh will be remembered not only for his steadfast commitment to his family and community but also for his gentle spirit and unwavering kindness. He leaves behind a legacy that will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at the Prospect Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of services on Monday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
