George L. Thompson, a beloved member of the Hilllsboro Community, departed from this world on January 10, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on October 8, 1937, in Highland County, George led a life rooted in faith, devotion, and the simple joys that bring people together. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Creek, wife, Barbara Thompson, son, Eric Thompson, brothers, Raymond Thompson, Ora and Larry Creek and sisters, Charlotte and Sara Creek.
George was a man of strong values and unwavering faith. He dedicated many years of service as a Deacon at the Samantha Bible Baptist Church, where he found solace and purpose in his spiritual journey. His commitment to his beliefs and fervent dedication to his congregation touched the lives of many.
George worked for Gross Feibel in Hillsboro, Irwin Auger Bit in Wilmington and retired from Rocky Fork Lake.
Outside of his work, George had a deep passion for fishing. He found comfort and tranquility in casting his line into the water, surrounded by the beauty of nature. It was during these moments that George found solace and reflection, connecting with the world around him.
George will be dearly missed by his loving children,, Lori (Chuck) Lewis, Jeanette (Rob) Ludwick and George Thompson, daughter-in-law, Danielle Thompson, grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Ludwick, Casey Ludwick, Kim (Bill) Roode, Tiffany (Cody) Shaw, Quinton (Hanna) Lewis, Ashley Thompson, Courtney (Kyle) Dawes, Garhett (Ally Dowd) Thompson, Meghan Thompson and Joseph Thompson, 9 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Brenda Creek and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday January 15, 2024 at the Samantha Bible Baptist Church, with Rev. Chad Watson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Hightop Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of services on Monday at the church.
