**Obituary for Elizabeth A. Rains**
January 24, 1947 - February 10, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth A. Rains, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and an artist whose spirit was unmatched. Elizabeth, who was born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 24, 1947, the daughter of the late Henry and Jeanette (Harp) Clayton, departed this life peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Hillsboro, Ohio, at the age of 79 . Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jenna Workman.
A talented and innovative artist, Elizabeth earned her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and dedicated much of her life to fostering creativity in others as a professor of art at the college level. With her remarkable skills as a seamstress, she created exquisite garments, even designing clothes for the renowned band, The Moody Blues. Elizabeth traveled across the United States, showcasing her craftsmanship at various craft shows, where her unique creations captivated many.
Elizabeth was a true force of nature, often taking charge in any situation with grace and confidence. She instilled passion and creativity in everyone around her, inspiring her children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams. Her legacy of artistic expression and strong will will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Rains; her son, John (Suellen) Rains; her grandchildren, Gage Rains, Sebastian Thacker, Divine Thacker, Stephanie Workman, and Tessa Workman; great-grandchildren, Romero, Kingston, and Chance, as well as her sister, Anice Clayton.
