Edwin E. Tipton Sr., age 83, of Hillsboro, OH, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Ed was born on March 21, 1942, in Louisville, KY, the son of the late Ishmer and Flossie (Schooler) Tipton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice "Faye" Tipton, former spouse and mother of his children, Jacqueline R. Green, and his three brothers: Charles, Bill, and Bobby Tipton.
Ed honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy and went on to have a fulfilling career as a truck driver. He proudly retired from the Teamsters Union after working for notable companies including Complete Trucking and Peerless Transportation. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #1141.
Known for his signature bib overalls, Ed cherished spending time outdoors on his farm with his boxer dogs by his side. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and fishing on the lake. He was particularly proud of building a pontoon and running "The Bait House" at Rocky Fork Lake, where he enjoyed serving the fishing community.
Ed is survived by his loving children: Kimberly Tipton of Hillsboro, OH, Tamera (Michael) Whisler of London, OH, Edwin (Sheri) Tipton, Jr. of Hillsboro, OH, Gail (Michael) Ditello of Galloway, OH, Jan (Mark) Seimer of London, OH, and Cynthia (Kenny) Sims of DeKalb, IL. He is also survived by an impressive legacy of 23 grandchildren: Tony (Melissa), Brian (Aubrey), Karrie, Brandi, Megan (Tommy), Ashley (Chris), Amanda (Nels), Andrea (Mike), Lauren (Logan), Heather (Jake), Samantha, Marty (Amanda), Chris (Molly), Danielle (Brett), Kelsey, Kyle, Matthew, Scott, Justin, Haley (Andrew), Kennison, Morgan, and Parker; 42 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Katherine Tipton of Germantown, OH; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Friends and family are invited to gather to honor Ed's life during a public viewing on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro, OH.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Thompson Funeral Home with Tom Stoops officiating.
The graveside service will follow the funeral service at Hillsboro Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard.
