David Steele, 78 of Centerville, passed away on Saturday March 28,2026. He was born on December 9, 1947 in Rarden Township, Ohio, the son of the late Jake Steele and Goldie Copas. Besides his parents, he is also preceded by his wife, Sharon Steele, brothers, Brad Elmore and Burl Elmore, sister, Faye Weiss and his lifelong best friend, Wendell Kemper.
After attending Dayton Schools, David went to serve in the United States Navy on the USS Cavalier for 4 years. He then completed an apprenticeship where he became a well-respected, hardworking iron worker for the next 30 years. Some of his greatest enjoyments were spending time with his family playing a good game of cards and making sure his house and lawn were the best looking in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed classic cars, going to car shows and vacationing in Florida.
David is survived by his three daughters, Tonya (Scott) Zipperian, Christine Northcutt and Lisa (Herman) Dingey, son, Brent (Sara) Hylton, 9 grandchildren, Jake (Kelsey) Zipperian, Joey Zipperian, Kendra Pohl, Kayla Northcutt, Jared (Mackenzie) Dingey, Taylor (Logan) Burchett, Andrew Dingey, Jocelyn (Joey) Geisen and Grayson Hylton, 10 great grandchildren, brother, Mike (Mattie) Steele, three sisters, Kay Stamper, Lora Mounts and Linnie Estes, aunt, Carol (Guy) Bentley, sister-in-laws, Karen Kemper and Joyce Bryant and a host of friends. His warm spirit and infectious laughter will be dearly missed, not just by his family, but by all whose lives he touched.
Funeral Services will be 12:30 pm on Saturday April 4, 2026 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the New Market Baptist Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11:00 am until time of services on Saturday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
