David Bruce Rogers, born on December 23, 1940, in Highland County, Ohio, to Raymond and Elizabeth (Park) Rogers, died on May 9, 2026, in Castle Rock, Washington.
He graduated from Marshall High School in 1958, earned his degree from Ohio University in 1962, and completed his legal education at The Ohio State University Law School in 1965. From 1966 to 1978, he practiced law in Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to his legal work, David served his country first in the Army National Guard and later as a Lieutenant and Law Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was honorably discharged in 1978.
After leaving the active practice of law, he began a lengthy career in the mineral mining industry. He first worked for a company in Ontario, Canada, and later held positions with other companies in Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. In Arizona, he was co-owner of a mining property. Over the years, he made his home in several western states and traveled many miles to mining locations.
He enjoyed the outdoors and took pride in caring for his property in Castle Rock. He stayed informed by reading The Wall Street Journal each day and cherished the companionship of his rescue dog, Honey.
Beside his parents, David was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Rochelle Vennari; three brothers, Hugh, Larry and Francis "Dee" Rogers.
He was blessed with two daughters, Lori (Douglas) Sternisha and Emily (Jeffrey) Jenkins; son, David (Robin) Rogers; three grandchildren, Ella (Daniel) Herbener, Hannah (Reed) Harster and Owen Sternisha; one great grandchild, Cameron Herbener; brother, Duane (Carol) Rogers; two sisters, Janet Greer and Sandy (Don) Anderson; sisters-in-law, Patsy Rogers and Janice Rogers; special friend, Lynda Rasar; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Public Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Thompson Funeral Home with Pastor Lloyd Shoemaker officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be accord by the Highland County Honor Guard following the service at the Marshall Cemetery.
