Charles "Bill" William Huffman

July 4, 1954 — April 11, 2026

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Charles William "Bill" Huffman, who left us peacefully on April 11, 2026 at the age of 71.

Bill was born on July 4, 1954 in Elmville, Ohio, the son of the late Harold E. and Mary L. (Forte) Huffman. Bill spent most of his life in Dayton, Ohio, where he made a lasting impact as a devoted husband and social worker.

A proud 1972 graduate of the Greene County Joint Vocational School, Bill went on to earn his associate degree in Social Work from Clark Technical College. His dedication to helping others was evident in all aspects of his work, including a passion for caretaking, groundskeeping, and church restoration. Bill was a man of deep faith and cherished his time spent at Lifepointe Church in Kettering.

To those who knew him, Bill was a good ol' country boy at heart - simple, straightforward, and deeply private. He loved the great outdoors, spending free hours hunting and fishing. He felt a strong connection to the earth and abiding affection for animals of all shapes and sizes, from barn cats to ponies and especially for a cocker spaniel named Punky, who was called to heaven before him.

Bill filled his life and the lives of his family with music. He played the guitar, and loved making up new tunes and songs.

He made it a point that no one ever left his home hungry, just as his mother had before him. In his home, there was always a pot on the stove and a helping hand for those who needed one. He found joy in breaking bread with friends and family, watching old movies, and reading classic western tales.

His family and faith were the cornerstones of his life; truly nothing was more important to him. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kathy A. (Shultz) Huffman, married on November 21, 1981 as well as their three loving daughters: Kristy Davis "Huffman," Sarah (Seth) Doebereiner, and Elizabeth (Jake) Whitaker. Bill will also be missed by his grandchildren, Sierra Rose Davis, William Doebereiner, Lexie Doebereiner, Hedya Whitaker, Jadon Whitaker, Nadia Whitaker, Enoch Whitaker, Zeke Whitaker, and his brother Robert "Bob" (Linda) Huffman, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service to honor Bill's life will be held on April 15, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Dunkard Ridge Cemetery. Everyone who wishes to celebrate his life is warmly invited to join us and remember a man who truly made a difference in the lives of those around him.

Rest in peace, Bill. Your tenacity and love will live on in our hearts.
