Obituary for Terry Gene Moore

On October 8, 2019, our precious husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away at the Hospice of Cincinnati surrounded by his family.

Terry was born December 13, 1947 at the Highland Hospital in Hillsboro, Ohio, to Paul L. and Opal Juanita Newman Moore, the second of three children.

Rev. Glen Curtis married Terry to Ruth Ann Allen on May 8, 1966 at the Nazarene Church in Hillsboro. To this union of 53 years of marriage was added 1 son and daughter-in-law, Edward Paul & Diena Carter Moore, a daughter, Christa Ruth Moore, 1 grandson, Brandon D. & Caitlyn Hill, 3 great grandsons, Brandon, Brayden and Zander Hill, 2 great grand daughters, Ivy Sue and Diena Rose Blair, twin sister, Carol Sue (Floyd) Colville of Hillsboro and sister, Connie Lou (Leon) Johnson of Hillsboro, a special young lady who he considered a daughter, Jamie Garrison and her husband & daughter, Billy and Ivy, two nieces, four great nephews, three great nieces and a host of friends.

Terry was a mechanic most of his life. He was the owner of the Ashland Service Station in Hillsboro and was employed at Sherwood Auto & Camper Sales, was a transportation supervisor at Hills & Dales Training Center and a bus driver for Hillsboro City Schools. He also was a volunteer for the Lynchburg Fire Department and Life Squad and was the Mayor of the Village of Lynchburg from 1996 to 2003.

He was a Past Master of Lynchburg Lodge #178 and a duel member of Highland Lodge #38, and also belonged to the Royal Arch Masons, Grand Council Royal & Select Masons, Highland Commandery #31 Knights Templar, Past Sovereign Master of the Harry E. Sark Council #186 Allied Masonic Degrees, 32° Scottish Rite Mason of the Valley of Cincinnati, a Past Patron of Hillsboro Chapter #441 Order of the Eastern Star and was the Recipient of the Meritorious Service Award, Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law, Betty L. Stagge Hill Moore and a nephew, Kevin Colville.

In our time of sorrow, the family has been comforted by the many prayers and expressions of sympathy and kindness from family, friends and neighbors. We want to also sincerely thank all the staff at the Highland District Hospital, The Laurels of Hillsboro and Bethesda North Hospital for all their loving care.

Hey, Ruth Ann and family.
I am so sorry to hear of Terry’s passing. My memories frequently go to the Ashland station where Terry and his many friends had great times, and I know they continued throughout his life. My prayer is that the Lord is with you at this time, and gives you the peace only He can provide.

Deepest Sympathy to the Moore Family. I was one of Christa's teachers at Hillsboro High School. I know from being with her what a loving and devoted family the Moore's were and Dad was an important person in her life.
