Obituary

Obituary for Phil A. Tong

Phillip A. Tong, 78 years of Sinking Spring, passed away on Monday October 21, 2019 at his residence.

He was born in Pike County on June 14, 1941, the son of the late Clarence “Rube” and Lola (Younker) Tong. Besides his parents, he is also preceded by his nephew, Randy Tong.

Phil was a 1959 graduate from Western Latham High School, was a founding member and Chief of the Brush Creek Fire Department for several years, served on the Brush Creek Life Squad, Sinking Spring Town Council, a member of the Sinking Spring Community Church, worked at Mead Paper for several years, retired from Phil Tong Trucking Company. A member of the Highland Lodge #38 F & AM, Pike County Shrine Club, Pike County Hillbilly Clan 8 and Aladdin Shrine Temple.

Phil is survived by his wife, Lois (Johnson) Tong, whom were married on February 25, 1961, daughters, Jody (Jimmy) Pertuset of West Union and Jill (Terence) Reed of Hillsboro, four grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Cox, Mallory (Luke) Bihl, Jesse Pertuset and Evan (Katie) Reed, five great grandchildren, Kolston Cox, Grace Bihl, Eisley Cox, Georgia Bihl and Bode Reed, brother, Ronnie (Shirley) Tong of Sinking Spring, three nephews, Rick Tong, Danny Tong and Russell Tong, several cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday October 25, 2019 at the Sinking Spring Community Church. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday October 24, 2019 at the church. Masonic Services will start at 8:00 PM.

Thompson Funeral Home is taking care of the family.

Donations can be made to the Sinking Spring Community Church or to the Shriners Hillbilly Clan 8.
